General Maths

Week 2: Sat 25 - Mon 27 Apr, 2.00pm - 4.00pm 

These 2 hour webinars will be delivered online.
All you will need is a computer or laptop.
You will be sent a registration link once you have enrolled.
You will not need to download any software onto your computer.
It is recommended that you book for all 4 sessions.
The webinars are interactive
There will be an optional Q&A session at end of webinar for 15 minutes
You will receive a unique set of notes

General Maths is a combination of the old Maths Methods and Maths Applications.
The subject consists of 6 topics of which 3 are compulsory and externally examined. 
All students must study the following Topics and Subtopics:

Topics 3,4 and 5 are essential and are examined externally.


Day 1. Statistical Models

Subtopic 3.1: Bivariate Statistics.
Subtopic 3.2: The Normal Distribution.

Day 2. Topic 4: Financial Models

Subtopic 4.1: Models for Saving.
Subtopic 4.2: Models for Borrowing.

Day 3. Topic 5: Discrete Models

Subtopic 5.1: Critical Path Analysis
Mathematical Investigations Workshop.
What makes an excellent Mathematical Investigation Report.
(This report is worth 30% of your assessment)

Students are requested to bring their Graphics Calculator.

Seminar Leader: Mr Craig Smith B App Sc (Mathematical and Computer Modelling) Grad Dip Ed. 
Craig is a highly recommended Maths teacher who has been teaching for 13 years.
Craig is a past examiner, has been involved in the SACE Maths Moderation process for 4 years and
has assisted many of his students to excellent results.
