About the Event
Day 1. Differential Calculus covering first principles, x^n functions,exponential and log functions and trig functions.
Day 2. Applications of Differential Calculus to tangents, graphing,rates of change,kinematics and optimization.
Day 3. Integration with respect to the inverse of differentiation, areas under curves and applications to rates of change and kinematics.
Day 4. Probability Distributions for discrete & cont. data. Normal distribution. Sampling & Confidence Intervals involving the central limit theorem & confidence intervals for sample means & sample proportions.
This covers all 6 topics as described in the Mathematical Methods SACE Subject Outline.
Seminar Leader: Mr Tony Thompson BSc Dip Ed Dip T Grad Dip Ed Admin. Tony has been teaching for 45 years and has been a Mathematics Coordinator for 29 years. He has been a SACE Board Mathematics exam marker for 36 years. In recent years he has been invited to lecture on methodology at Year 12 Mathematics teacher conferences and was a co-author of the Year 12 Haese Mathematics publications.
