3 Sessions of 3 hours each....For MAXIMUM benefit it is recommended that all 3 sessions are attended.

YOUR OPTIONS:

Week 2 Mon 7 - Wed Oct 9: 9.30 am - 12.30 pm

School assessment comprises 70% of total assessment, with the externally assessed component - Part A: Comparative Text Study (15%), Part B: Critical Reading (15%) comprising 30%.

Day 1. External Assessment:

Critical Reading:

  • the art of deconstructing and analysing unseen texts

  • using and embedding evidence

  • creating accurate, clear and fluent responses

Day 2. Workshopping....Individual approach towards each student's progress including:

Response to Texts

  • Extended Prose

  • Film

  • Drama

  • Poetry

Critical Perspectives Task

Transformative Text

Day 3. Exam Preparation Skills specific to English Literary Studies – Specific focus on Critical Reading

  •   Successfully responding to unseen text(s) in timed situations

Seminar Leader: Ms Kay Brindal, B.A. Dip Ed.

Kay has been a teacher of Stage 2 English since 1990, specialising in English Studies (now English Literary Studies) since 1994. 
Kay has held the position of Head of English in various schools over a number of years. Kay’s enthusiastic approach to learning and 
teaching is complemented by the delivery of professional development for teachers of English, 
continued involvement in the creation of English support materials, and by relevant SACE Board experience in external assessment and moderation.
