Day 1. Topic 1: Monitoring the Environment: global warming & climate change; photochemical smog; Volumetric analysis; chromatography; atomic spectroscopy.
Day 2. Topic 2: Managing Chemical Processes: Rates of Reaction; equilibrium & yield; optimising production.
Day 3. Topic 3: Organic & Biological Chemistry: Introduction; alcohols; aldehydes & Ketones; Carboxylic acids; amines.
Day 4. Topic 3: Organic & Biological Chemistry: esters; amides; triglycerides; proteins.

A critical look at essay construction and presentation will be an integral part of this course as will exam preparation procedures. 

Seminar Leader: Dr. Keith Gatford B Sc  Grad Dip T PhD
Keith has worked at leading Universities for nearly 10 years and has been a senior Chemistry and Biology teacher for over a decade.
In that time he has achieved with his students, seven merits in Chemistry and seventeen merits in Biology.
Keith also assists the SACE board in moderation of both Chemistry and Biology and in curriculum development and review.


Seminar Leader: Mr Rick Todd BEd (Chem. Maths)
Rick has been teaching Chemistry in South Australia for over 35 years & has been a senior Chemistry teacher at a leading independent school.  
Many of Rick’s students have attained the perfect score of 20/20 in SACE exams and 7 in IB exams.  
Rick has also been a moderator and examiner of IB Chemistry and an accredited IB Workshop Leader.
